What we do

Join us in accelerating the transition towards a Circular Built Environment in Europe. At the Circular Buildings Coalition (CBC), we bring together stakeholders from the built environment to overcome barriers and embrace sustainable practices. Why does the CBC exist? The challenges of transitioning to a circular economy in the built environment are vast, with roots at local, national, and European levels. However, many impact-driven organizations worldwide are already addressing these challenges. As a coalition, we aim to amplify their efforts and lead the way forward.
How do we move forward? The CBC has a clear roadmap:
  • Creating a common understanding of the challenge and opportunities ahead
  • Cultivating alliances and joining forces to formulate key ambitions, frameworks and policy
  • Amplifying proven solutions, collaboration with the circular buildings coalition

Headquartered in Amsterdam, we have an international and interdisciplinary team. The circular economy is at the heart of our work. We empower businesses, cities and nations with practical and scalable solutions to put the circular economy into action. We are a team of international experts driven to make the circular economy happen: from consulting, data, digital, industrial ecology, economics, design and communications.

Our vision is an economic system that ensures the planet and all people can thrive. To avoid climate breakdown, our goal is to double global circularity by 2032.

Circle Economy works to overcome the barriers to the implementation of the circular economy. We use hard data and facts to create roadmaps for action and inform decision making. We build digital products that can be tailored to specific contexts, making the circular economy understandable and actionable. And we do this across crucial topics and impact sectors.

Based in Copenhagen, we have experience with both Danish and international projects, working with philanthropic funds, systemic change at regional and municipality level, spearheading projects within strategic partnerships, and the landscape of new sustainable solutions in the built environment.

We view meeting climate requirements as an initial step towards systematically reducing the construction footprint across various aspects. The coalition is spearheading crucial efforts to promote the circular economy model and adhere to planetary boundaries. As we progress through this transition, it is crucial to ensure that present solutions are adaptable for a future characterised by limited resources. Embracing and implementing a circular economy ethos is a critical solution that must be fostered and integrated across sectors, particularly when considering the materials shaping our future buildings.
